SWEEEEEEEET!! Thousand Foot Krutch is coming to Calgary again! Centre Street Church - September 7,2005 for the Great White North Super Tour ........ I WANT TO GO! http://www.thousandfootkrutch.com
i know there's a group rate cuz south alliance's new youthpastor (skip phillips - yay for the non-chinese people) was saying something about that.
yay for tooth and nail records.
ps. what's the song that you've got playing on your blog? the first part with the keyboards makes me think of the "i love you more than life" united song...
ps. did you go to the avalon concert at center street? heard it was really good esp. cuz the people in the band were really down to earth and stuff.
haha i'm biased cuz i've never been to centre street and cuz i've been at westside king's and plus we did a screamo/hardcore concert in june instead of our sunday nite service, plus hear that the centre street's sound system is specialized for speech, so kinda biased for westside's geared for music system...
The song on my page is "Have You Ever" by Shawn MacDonald! I wrote the lyrics in another blog entry; look at the earlier ones and see! It's such a good song ^^
Yeah I did actually go to the Avalon concert. I never had attended to a concert of theirs before, so I wasn't expecting much ... but wow oh wow was it ever amazing. It was because that group is extremely talented in singing! Sooo talented, and all the members sounded so good together. Uhmm and that was my first time at Centre Street and that building itself is amazing! I think the sound system is great? I'm clueless for comparing systems, but I really enjoyed the concert overall anyhow! :D
Thousand Foot Krutch ... oooh such a fun band ^^ I'm sure they'll have special guests as well. Avalon had 3! Carried Away, Gaetz Ave, and ..... shoot forgot the singer's name, but this solo artist.
haha... sorry it was me - forgot to change the chooseAnIdentity radio buttons last time.
that's so cool that you had a great time at avalon! if i can get past my apathy/laziness i'd go to the tfk concert. i've liked tfk's record label tooth&nail since highschool.
yeah, on myspace i found the dude who had a picture of avalon on his page and he was saying that he designed the set at centre street, plus he says he's a worship leader there too. plus off his friend's account i found a bunch of guys on hillsong united and a few of them have added me as a friend (luke munns the drummer and a few guitarists for sure, i think i'm still waiting for marty to add me). whoa dude, the lead guitar guy from united (dude with the huge guitar on the left side of the stage with the big hair) actually wrote me back and said that he was also here in calgary playing for butch walker at the avril lavigne concert - one of the guys who does the lighting at westside king's worked at the avril concert and wore his crew t-shirt to sunday night once. plus the band from kelowna (TheBleedingAlarm) that headlined the june concert at westside has butch walker on their "bands" list on their "links" page.
avalon set pic (dunno if it'll work, but...): http://myspace-467.vo.llnwd.net/00141/76/41/141621467_l.jpg
shawn macdonald? cool. i only know that first single he had out on the radio and not really anything else, but i got him (or whoever takes care of it) to add me to his myspace though. i like the creativity to his music.
haha... dunno if she's still a dj at shine (won't name names...), but one of them's blog (a personal one, not the shinefm blog) was talking about a bad concert that went down and didn't name names (did say that people in the calgary area would know so i'm guessing it was the casting crowns concert - could be wrong) and kinda was saying that it wasn't very good (the main band was supposedly good, but the opening bands were bad, plus there was feedback and stuff on the sound system). and she wrote about how christian concert goers are cheap (used the example of rebecca st. james' concert here) and it just seems like she's saying that people won't shell out the money to see christian artists but on the flip side are complaining that there aren't more christian artists that come to calgary.
there's an interesting conversation going on over whether or not there's really a difference between 'christian' and 'secular' music too (well, maybe only interesting to me, haha), might have to highlight, copy, and paste these links cuz they're there but they just aren't visible in its entirety if they're too long. http://www.christianitytoday.com/music/commentaries/secularsacreddivide.html http://www.christianitytoday.com/music/commentaries/crossoverartists.html http://www.christianitytoday.com/music/commentaries/crossoverartists2.html
haha... thanks for putting up with me blab on and on.
